Human Resource Management (HRM)
"Human Resource Management is important because we make the most of this investment, particularly given the evidence of a direct link between the success of an organization and the quality of its people management. The most successful organizations manage their people well and reap the rewards." -Leo Linghman, HR Professional
What is Human Resource Management?
Human resource management (HRM) is the strategic and coherent approach to the management of an organization's most valued assets - the people working there who individually and collectively contribute to the achievement of the objectives of the business.
The Human Resource Management program at Cal Poly prepares students for entry and advanced positions in human resource management. It develops knowledge and core competencies in staffing, employee training and development, and compensation, while concentration electives allow students to pursue advanced coursework in human resource information systems, organizational development, managerial consultation, and other specialties.
